In 2009, Dr. Floyd N. Tyler, Jr. founded Preserver Partners in Memphis, TN after 10+ accomplished years in institutional investment management, research, and consulting, Dr. Tyler believed it was possible to generate equity-like returns over time with low volatility and correlation to public markets by investing opportunistically across asset-classes. With this idea and one committed client, Preserver's first Fund, Preserver, L.P., was incepted. Over the next fourteen years, Dr. Tyler served as the Firm’s President and Chief Investment Officer until his untimely passing in 2023.
Dr. Tyler had many passions, but one he was most proud of was community giving. His diverse contributions involved board service in health care, youth development and education, and economic development/poverty alleviation. He received many accolades during and after his lifetime and has been featured in multiple local and national publications that highlight his spirit of giving. The Preserver Partners Foundation was formed in 2019 to strengthen the community by investing resources in programs that promote Education, Economic Opportunity, and Social Justice. The Foundation and its board are proud to continue his legacy by supporting and benefiting generations to come.
Dr. Tyler wasn’t just a force in the Memphis community, but was recognized across the country. He forged relationships and laid the foundation for the Firm’s current client base of foundations, endowments, corporations, public retirement plans, family offices, and accredited individuals. Today, Preserver has grown to over $200 million in assets under management with a team of tenured professionals who are dedicated to achieving solid returns, disciplined and diligent investing, ethical practices, and treasured client relationships. As the Firm moves forward, the Preserver Team remains committed to these core values and its client-first approach.
